“There is a very good possibility of discovering dark matter, and it’s the ultimate goal post.”
Mark Boulay is focused on the search for dark matter. Dark matter is one of the rare instances where there is consensus in the field that most of our universe is made up of dark matter. Routinely ranked as one of the top three mysteries in fundamental science, researchers continue to pursue the open question, ‘what is dark matter?’ Boulay’s research focus is designing and building detectors to try to directly observe an interaction of one of these particles for the first time ever. Currently using the DEAP-3600 detector at the underground science facility SNOLAB, Boulay and his team continue to search for a single interaction of one dark matter particle.
